We believe life is sacred and worthy to be explored. Throughout the first half of our lives, we’re rightly enamored and drawn to focus on the external world. The beauty of creation pulls us in and invites us to experience life in all its glory.
However, as we mature as healthy sojourners, we become increasingly aware of another world, an inner sanctuary.
“Lord Jesus, let me know myself and know You.”
Saint Augustine
Becoming aware of this sacred journey, this lifelong formation of growing into our true selves is not for the faint of heart. The temporal gives way to eternal, and fleeting to the immortal. Our sacred lives are not meant for only external pleasures and pursuits, but inward awakening toward a life in harmony with what is true, and good.
We are being formed, slowly, patiently, and lovingly by our Creator. At Sacred Formation we believe this formational process is God’s teleological end. We are being made, shaped into the image of Christ, and enlivened every time we open ourselves to the Spirit’s gentle nudges. And we are spiritual beings first, learning how to be truly human, as the incarnation reveals.
We desire to create space in this busy, and noisy world for fellow sojourners. Space for learning to surrender into difficult places of listening and by the Spirit’s gentle movement, following. This life, after all, is a treasure, a dance, and worth investing in inwardly as we learn to bring our inner and outer worlds into a healthy balance.
